The Five Lords of Waterdeep
The Five Lords equally share rule over the metropolis of Waterdeep.
Silverstar’s Basilica (The White Lord): These devoted champions of the light consist of many clerics and paladins. Collectively, the worship Tyr, Pelor and the moon goddess, Selûne, among other righteous deities. They tirelessly work for righteousness and peace. They are notorious for their disdain for slavery, dark magic and the undead. Once led by high-elf Paladin Lady Silverstar, they are closely aligned with the Guard of Castle Waterdeep. The Paladin Tirlonde now rules the Silverstars.
Knights of the Shield (The Black Lord): Posing as a consortium of merchants and nobles, the Knights of the Shield in fact deal in information. Their spy network extends all throughout Waterdeep and the organization’s influence stretches along the Sword Coast and far inland. Led by the famous swordsman Roderigo, they are secretly aligned with the Red Sashes.
The Guard of Castle Waterdeep (The Blue Lord): Waterdeep is defended by its own army of soldiers who patrol the city and the surrounding countryside. The Castle Guard serve as the city’s constables, provide bodyguards for visiting dignitaries and value order, above all. Led for generations by dwarven family of Brennan, they are closely aligned with the Silverstars.
Red Sashes Canton (The Red Lord): Vigilantes who protect the poorest parts of Waterdeep, the Red Sashes are masters of intrigue. They hide those who need to escape and find those who wish to stay hidden. Among their ranks are notorious rogues, thieves, pirates and mercenaries. Led by wood-elf named the Red Lady, they are secretly aligned with the Knights of the Shield.
Harper’s Halls (The Green Lord): The Harpers were founded ages ago by the elven leaders of old. Until recently, the Harpers were under the counsel of the legendary wizard Elminster and father to Atremus. This secret society fights for individual freedom while balancing the needs of civilization and nature. They often serve as negotiators among the other four lords and have no alliances.
